Ford Maverick Named one of the 12 Best Vehicles in Canada for 2026

As award season continues, the Ford Maverick continues to rack up accoldaes, this time at the Montreal International Auto Show in Quebec, where Maverick was unveiled as one of the 12 Best Vehicles in Canada for 2026 by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). This celebration also showcased the Ford Maverick as a finalist for Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, an award that will be announced on February 12 at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto.

"Congratulations to Ford and the redesigned Maverick pickup for earning its spot among the 12 Best Vehicles in Canada for 2026," said Evan Williams, president of AJAC. "The Maverick delivers pickup truck versatility and practicality at a more convenient size, lower price, and excellent fuel economy when compared with full-sized trucks. Our panel of Canada's leading automotive journalists found the Maverick to excel in value and consumer appeal, giving it its spot among the 12 Best and as one of three finalists for the 2026 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year Award."

Canadians have flocked to Maverick since it debuted in 2020, with sales more than doubling in 2025 year-over-year to over 16,000 sold across the country. The Ford Maverick lineup features both a hybrid front-wheel drive and hybrid all-wheel drive, along with a variety of EcoBoost variants, including Maverick Tremor for off-road capability and Maverick Lobo - the return of the street truck.

Earlier this week, Maverick Lobo was named North American Truck of the Year - the sixth year in a row that Ford has been awarded this honour by a distinguished group of American and Canadian journalists. With 2026 Truck of the Year awards from MotorTrend, Truck King and CarBuzz also under its belt, and as one of Car and Driver's 10Best for 2026, it begs the question - what's next for Ford's entry-level pickup?

In my humble opinion, the sky's the limit.
