The 2025 Mustang Mach-E: Evolving for Europe too

For the first time in the history of Spanish Eco Rallies, a fully adapted vehicle has competed, and I was thrilled that it was our all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E.1
This wasn't just about motorsport; it was about what we stand for as a company. The debut of the HNP Racing team from the National Hospital for Paraplegics in the Castilla-La Mancha Eco Rally was the culmination of a vision we have long championed through our Ford Adapta programme: that mobility, and the freedom it brings, should be for everyone.
Our partnership with the National Hospital for Paraplegics in Toledo is something we deeply value. Seeing their team compete on equal terms was a powerful statement that showcased not only their talent and determination, but also the potential of technology to break down barriers.

Leading the team was Iván Díaz, a former patient who now inspires others as a trainer on the Ford Adapta driving simulator at the hospital. His words before the rally truly resonated with me: “This is a dream come true for me. I am really looking forward to a great competition and proving that adapted driving has a place in motorsport.”
He was guided by co-driver Dr. Francisco Gutiérrez, a rehabilitation specialist at the hospital in Toledo whose perspective highlighted the profound impact of this project. “These initiatives give visibility to everyone with spinal cord injuries who wants to get involved in sports and regain their autonomy,” he told us.
The vehicle they drove was a testament to our commitment. It was a Mustang Mach-E, meticulously modified through Ford Adapta – our joint initiative with our dealer network and the ONCE Foundation. With features like a hand-operated brake and gear shifter that operate like a motorcycle throttle, it is a perfect example of how we can innovate to create a more inclusive world.

The event was also a chance to support the hospital's incredible virtual driving team, which helps patients on their rehabilitation journey under the motto “Together we create the future.”
For me, watching Iván and Dr. Gutiérrez compete in Toledo was more than just a sporting achievement. It was a powerful symbol of progress and a demonstration of our purpose at Ford. It showed that when we combine innovation with a commitment to people, we can create a future with fewer obstacles and more opportunities. I congratulate the team on their historic and inspiring performance.
