When you're designing the next member of the Bronco family, you carry 60 years of history on your shoulders.

But designing the Bronco Basecamp wasn’t about creating something retro-inspired or stylish for the sake of it. It was about visual honesty. The original 1960s Bronco established an iconic language: the tall, upright stance, the clean shoulder lines, and a purposeful silhouette.

We didn’t design this vehicle from a boardroom; we designed it from life. We focused on the weekend rituals of active people and built the vehicle from the “campsite out”.

Here are four design details we engineered to make the destination the best part of the adventure:

1. The Pop-Up Lift Roof (available on Outer Banks only)

We wanted to pay homage to the Bronco family’s long history of open-air driving, but in a way that serves an adventure-first lifestyle. On Outer Banks, at the touch of a button, the roof lifts to instantly increase interior height. It connects you completely to the night air (if unzipping the gusset), but because it’s rain-sensing, it will automatically close if the weather turns.

2. Sleeping Space

Through our research, customers consistently told us they wanted to sleep inside their vehicle comfortably, without the fuss of pitching a tent. So, we designed the front and rear seats to fold, creating a sleeping surface when you add the custom fit inflatable mattress. ¹ We even moved the USB charging ports to the B-pillars and positioned the LED cabin lighting specifically, so they are perfectly accessible when you are lying down.

3. The Console Cooler ²

We integrated a versatile thermally controlled 7.5L storage (standard on Outer Banks model only) ² directly into the centre console. It is engineered to be cold enough to keep your trail drinks chilled, or warm enough to keep a takeaway meal hot until you reach your destination.

4. The "Wild Kitchen" tailgate

A Bronco’s tailgate has always been a place where people gather. To turn this into a genuinely functional outdoor workspace, we created the Wild Kitchen. The swing gate features an integrated fold-down table to organise your cooking gear, and 6.6kW Pro Power Onboard^TM. ³

With Bronco Basecamp, the expression of adventure has changed, but the spirit of freedom remains the same. We kept the soul but made the destination part of the design.
