What’s New: Ford F-150 Platinum, Lariat and XLT

Australia's full-size pickup landscape is about to get a serious upgrade. The updated Ford F-150 arrives with a bold new statement at the top of the range. For the first time ever, Australian buyers can experience the pinnacle of F-150 luxury with the all-new Platinum series.

Here's everything new about the updated F-150 lineup hitting Ford dealerships this month.

The big news: F-150 Platinum arrives Down Under

The headline act is undoubtedly the F-150 Platinum. This isn't just another trim level; it's Ford's luxury flagship that transforms the hardworking F-150 into a premium experience.

The Platinum commands attention with its distinctive all-black aesthetic. Gloss black surrounds, smoked F-150 fender decorations, and bold 20-inch painted gloss black alloy wheels give it an unmistakably premium presence. Even the Ford badging goes black, while smoked exhaust tips complete the sophisticated look.

But the real magic happens inside, where luxury meets functionality in ways Australian truck buyers have never experienced.

Interior: where practicality meets luxury

The Platinum's front seats are plush and multi-adjustable, featuring six-way power lumbar support and multi-setting massage functionality in both the seatback and seat bottom. Need a break during a long haul? These seats recline to nearly full-flat position 1, transforming your truck into a mobile rest area.

Premium black onyx luxury trim surrounds you, while Platinum-branded elements on the scuff plates, steering wheel, front seats, and console lid remind you you're in something special.

For Lariat, the heated and cooled front seats are auto climate controlled where they were previously manually controlled.

Exterior: bold new attitude

Each series gets its own visual identity. The XLT sports a black painted coast-to-coast front grille with black mesh and chrome centre bar, plus distinctive amber indicators and new LED headlamps.

The Lariat steps up with chrome grille appearance, 20-inch chrome-like alloy wheels and extended chrome side steps (on short wheelbase models).

Platinum's power moves: The Platinum doesn't just look different, it acts different. Auto power-deployable black side steps extend automatically when you approach. Security comes via the multi-folding hard tonneau cover that protects your cargo or folds to accommodate numerous shapes and sizes of cargo.

Body-colour mirrors and door handles maintain the sophisticated aesthetic, while continuously controlled damping (CCD) suspension ensures the ride matches the luxury appointments.

Smarter and more connected: All variants feature a 360-degree camera system as part of the Towing Vision System, but the Platinum adds an additional rear cargo view camera providing enhanced visibility of the surroundings. 2

Advanced driver assistance: The Lariat and Platinum offer Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and lane centring, technology that makes long highway drives significantly less fatiguing. Add Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Assist, and front parking sensors, and you have a comprehensive safety net. 3

Pro features for real work: Pro Trailer Backup Assist takes the guesswork out of reversing with trailers, while the Lariat and Platinum’s Pro Access swing-door tailgate offers multiple access options for different loading situations.

Serious towing: With 4.5-tonne braked towing capacity and a 136-litre long-range fuel tank, the F-150 is ready for Australia's distances and demands. 4
