Ford is announcing a do-not-drive advisory and recall for owners of approximately 15,892 2025 Transit vehicles in the United States regarding a potential issue with the brake pedal assembly.
This recall involves vehicles built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant where the brake pedal cotter pin and retainer clip may not have been installed during assembly.
A missing cotter pin allows the brake booster pushrod to loosen. Under heavy brake pedal application, the pushrod could disconnect entirely from the brake pedal. If disconnection occurs, the operator will experience a loss of service brake function, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
Customers may notice a “loose” or “wobbly” feeling in the brake pedal prior to a failure. Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or fires related to this concern.
A permanent remedy is available now, and Ford is prioritizing Mobile Service and dealer-coordinated towing directly to the dealership for repair to ensure the process is completed safely and conveniently.
Customers can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information. Ford’s reference number for this recall is 26C07.
