2026 Salute to Dealers Honoree: Kent Ritchey

In Memphis, Tennessee, Kent Ritchey has spent 40 years supporting local schools and healthcare institutions. As the leader of Landers Ford and a 2026 Ford Salute to Dealers honoree, Ritchey focuses his philanthropic efforts on initiatives designed to provide long-term benefits for the greater Memphis area.

The Salute to Dealers program recognizes dealer principals who go above and beyond for their communities, a standard Ritchey has met through his consistent involvement in regional education and medical services.

“I try to invest my time and money on programs or items that will affect people long term — things that have an impact on their lives they may not even realize at the time.” said Ritchey.

Ritchey provides education grants for classroom projects and supports athletic complexes at six area high schools. His commitment to healthcare is highlighted by significant contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as well as support for Church Health, which provides medical services to families in need of affordable care. By encouraging a culture of service at Landers Ford, Ritchey ensures his team is actively involved in supporting the community where they live and work.

Can you recall the very first time you felt the impact of helping someone?

Kent Ritchey: I started in the auto business in a small Mississippi Delta town. The parks and recreation leagues were in poor shape, so I convinced the city to form a volunteer board. I was 25 at the time. Collectively, we had an immediate, positive impact. Kids' leagues flourished and participation by all ages increased rapidly.

Who in your life set the example for what it means to help those in need?

Kent Ritchey: I was an operator for Homer Skelton, a longtime pioneer dealer in Memphis. I watched him underwrite programs for families in dire financial need. He did this with little or no publicity and did it very humbly.

What is the most rewarding part of seeing your dealership employees rally together for a local cause?

Kent Ritchey: I love seeing the bonding experience develop. I get excited hearing our associates talk about the feeling we get from holding fundraisers or supporting participants in the programs.

For 26 years, Ford has celebrated the extraordinary contributions of its dealers through the Salute to Dealers program. Congratulations and thank you to all eight of the 2026 honorees for their commitment to service.
