This weekend marked a major milestone for Red Bull Ford Powertrains, as Max Verstappen took victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia for the first win since the Ford name returned to F1 in 2026, through their partnerships with both Oracle Red Bull Racing and Red Bull Ford Powertrains.
Ford is also a technical partner of Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, and all four cars powered by Red Bull Ford Powertrains finished in the top 10 today — another major achievement and a testament to the strength of the partnership.
The DM01 power unit that powered this win was designed and built by the Red Bull Ford Powertrains team at the Red Bull Technology Campus in Milton Keynes and is a testament to the innovative ambition of Red Bull and its partnership with Ford Racing. The win marks the first time since 2003 that the Ford name has been on the top step of the F1 podium and the 177th win in Ford’s long and illustrious F1 history.

Ford partners with Red Bull Ford Powertrains across several areas on the power unit, including the development of high-voltage propulsion systems and the manufacture of components for the ICE, ERS, and turbo unit. Ford also worked closely with Red Bull Ford Powertrains on the electronics, software, and control systems.
This victory marks a key milestone of the partnership, not the final goal. It also builds on the remarkable history Ford Racing has in F1, and Ford remains one of the most successful engine manufacturers in the sport, despite an absence of more than 20 years.
The technical partnership with Red Bull Ford Powertrains in F1 gives Ford Racing the opportunity to learn and test in the most demanding and competitive environments in the world, learning lessons that can be transferred directly to future road cars. From the tracks of F1 to the deserts of Dakar, Ford uses racing as the ultimate crucible to develop technologies that will find their way through to our customers.

For Red Bull Ford Powertrains, the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia marked a first win of the season, and another massive step forward for the program.
“Ford Racing has worked hand in hand with Ben Hodgkinson and his team of engineers at Red Bull Ford Powertrains from the early stages of testing, through to the power unit that we see on track today," said Global Director of Ford Racing Mark Rushbrook.
"As Red Bull Ford Powertrains celebrate powering this win for Oracle Red Bull Racing, we will do so by marking this as the first win for the Red Bull Ford Powertrains power unit and the 177th win for an engine associated with Ford.”
