Built for the surfers, the foragers, the trail runners, the fly fishers, the wild swimmers, the plein air painters and the star gazers, Bronco Basecamp is a different side of what Bronco has always stood for. It has a super-hybrid powertrain, combining electric driving with extended-range capability. And rather than asking you to conquer the landscape, it's built to help you settle into it with everything you need for where the road ends and your reset begins.

Bronco Basecamp is a spacious, five-seat, all-wheel-drive SUV built around a simple idea: that your vehicle shouldn't just get you to the adventure, it should be part of it. We've combined a super-hybrid powertrain with flexible interior space and integrated camping features designed into the vehicle from the beginning.
How does the electrified Basecamp fit into the Ford Bronco family?
For more than 60 years, Bronco has stood for fun, freedom, capability and exploration. That hasn't changed. What Bronco Basecamp does is expand what that spirit can look like. The Bronco family is broad enough for dedicated off-roaders and something like this, the first-ever electrified Bronco: a vehicle designed for wherever your adventure takes you and one that’s ready whenever you want to get away from it all.
Why is Ford bringing Bronco Basecamp to Australia and New Zealand?
When we looked at how Aussies and Kiwis spend their time outdoors (the national parks, the coastal trails, and the distances people travel) the fit was immediate. Outdoor life here isn't a trend. It's just life. The way people use their vehicles across the whole week, the relationship with escaping to somewhere quieter: Bronco Basecamp was almost purpose-built for these customers.
What makes Bronco Basecamp different from other SUVs?
We designed and engineered Bronco Basecamp from the adventure experience out, rather than starting with a driving platform and adding outdoor features later.
Built-in camping and outdoor features:
- Pop-Up Lift Roof: On Outer Banks model only, the roof opens at the touch of a button; includes unzippable gusset for fresh-air ventilation and an instant connection to the open sky.
- Sleeping space: Both seat rows fold down to accommodate an available accessory full-length custom inflatable mattress 3, giving you a comfortable place to bed down.
- Pro-Power OnboardTM1: 6.6kW of battery-supplied off-grid power for cooktops, kettles and tools.
- Thermal console: On select models, an integrated 7.5-litre warm/cool storage that can heat and cool for day-trip drinks and food. 2
- Tailgate utility table: Built-in rear door table designed specifically for outdoor meal prep.
A few things will hit an owner straight away. On Outer Banks model, a rain-sensing (with auto close) roof 1 opens at the touch of a button. It lifts to give you space and airflow if you unzip the gusset. The first time you do that on a warm evening and feel the breeze come in, you stop thinking about the vehicle and start thinking about where you are.
The interior converts into a sleeping space. Both rows of seats fold down, and once you add in an available accessory full-length custom inflatable mattress you're set for the night 3. No rearranging, no pulling luggage out of the back. Just a comfortable place to rest wherever you've decided to stop.
There's a 7.5-litre warm/cool storage 2 that heats or cools in the centre console that’s big enough for a day's drinks and snacks without needing a separate cooler, while the rear door has an integrated utility table for prepping meals. The adventure doesn't pause while you set up camp.
How does the Bronco Basecamp’s super-hybrid powertrain work?
Bronco Basecamp has a super-hybrid powertrain. Vehicles with super-hybrid powertrains are sometimes referred to as extended-range EVs (EREV). That means it combines dual-motor electric driving (with a usable 49kWh battery) alongside a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine acting as a range extender. On a gravel track to your campsite, the instant torque handles the rough and tough of unmade roads without fuss. You get the responsive feel of an EV with the confidence of knowing you can go where your adventure takes you.
Distances matter in Australia and New Zealand. With a driving range of 800-900 kilometres 4, you can think about where you're going without worrying about getting there.
How does Pro Power Onboard™ run campsite appliances without a generator?
Beyond driving, Bronco Basecamp doubles as an off-grid power source, allowing you to be at home on the road. The same battery that moves the vehicle can run your campsite: plug in an induction cooktop, an espresso machine, a kettle. No external generator needed. With up to a maximum of 6.6kW of power from the Pro Power OnboardTM system 1, wherever you stop. It brings all the comforts of home to the edge of the wilderness, letting you relax and enjoy the serenity.
Who is the target audience for the Bronco Basecamp?
Honestly? It's someone a lot of us recognise, because a lot of us are that person. They have a favourite national park, or a campsite they found years ago and still visit. They don't necessarily call themselves off-roaders or overlanders. They just love being outdoors. They want a vehicle that handles daily life and transforms when they decide to get away. Bronco Basecamp was designed for that person.
