The 2026 Ranger update 1 is about giving customers more of what they already love. The Ranger has always stood out for capability and versatility, and this update raises the bar again. There’s now more performance through, depending on the market, the expanded availability of the powerful 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel, smarter technology cascaded down the lineup, and a refreshed design language that gives each variant its own distinct and confident personality. The result is more value, more power for more people, and the trusted, capable pickup that customers rely on, whether they're on a job site or heading out for a weekend adventure.
What engine and powertrain updates are new on the 2026 Ford Ranger?
The acclaimed 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel – producing 184kW of power and 600Nm of torque – is now available across more variants than ever before, including for the first time on the work-ready XL, making that strong performance accessible to a wider range of customers.
The 2.0-litre turbo-diesel has been enhanced with a new timing chain and an updated fuel injection system, improving both durability and day-to-day performance. It delivers 125kW of power and 405Nm of torque, with peak torque arriving at just 1,750rpm for confident pulling power right where you need it.
In some markets, the 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine joins the Ranger lineup, delivering elevated refinement for everyday driving. It produces 222kW of power and 452Nm of torque. Read our feature on this variant.
Ford's proven 10-speed automatic transmission – originally developed for the F-150 – is now standard across all variants, with real-time adaptive shift scheduling ensuring the Ranger is always in the right gear at the right time. Expanding the availability of the V6 and standardising the 10-speed automatic puts more of the performance and refinement that customers love within their reach. This robust powertrain supports the Ranger's impressive maximum braked towing capacity of 3,500kg. 2
How has the 2026 Ford Ranger's exterior and interior design changed?
The approach was deliberate and considered. Chrome accents and contrasting greys have been replaced with modern gloss and matte black finishes across the XLT, Wildtrak and Platinum series, creating a more contemporary way of communicating confidence and premiumness. Each variant was assigned a strong, descriptive character and those qualities guided the design team in crafting a distinct personality for each truck through new finishes and colours. Ranger has an unmistakable look, and this update sharpens it further.
Alongside the aesthetic changes, there's also a meaningful cascading of features – including the 12-inch infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, rear air vents, and the Driver Assist Technology bar 3 – that delivers more equipment and value at every level of the lineup.
What's new on each 2026 Ford Ranger variant – from XL to Platinum?
There's something genuinely new for every customer across the range. 1
Ranger XL: Now available, depending on the market, with the 3.0L V6 engine for the first time, the XL also gains more equipment as standard: a 12-inch infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, and rear air vents on double cab variants. Customers who opt for the V6-powered XL get even more: the 16-inch steel wheels with all-season tyres are replaced with 17-inch steel rims fitted with all-terrain tyres, rear disc brakes are added, along with an e-shifter and adjustable drive modes.
Ranger XLS: The XLS continues in the lineup, now available exclusively as a double cab-chassis body style, paired with the 3.0L V6 engine. Building on the XL, it adds side steps, carpet floor and driver floor mat, and 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres as standard.
Ranger XLT: The XLT takes on a bolder, more muscular character with a gloss black grille, wing mirrors and rear bumper, complemented by 17-inch alloy wheels in ebony gloss black. Inside, a standard 12-inch infotainment screen, wireless charger, rear-seat USB charging and rear air vents on double cab variants round out a strong package. Ranger Wildtrak: The Wildtrak makes a bold statement with Ignite Orange as its new hero colour, accentuating all-new 18-inch wheels. Ford's sophisticated Matrix LED headlamps are now standard, as is a premium 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen® 4 sound system for a truly first-class audio experience. Inside, Ignite Orange contrast stitching flows across the dashboard alongside a laser-etched 'Wildtrak' logo, while the leather and neo-suede seating carries the same Ignite Orange contrast stitching and 'Wildtrak' logo on the seat back.
Ranger Wolftrak: A limited-edition addition to the Ranger lineup, the head-turning Wolftrak arrives in a striking exclusive Traction Green hero colour with distinctive Zest accents, 17-inch Asphalt Black alloy wheels, and a purpose-built premium interior. Ranger Tremor: The Tremor makes a highly anticipated return to the Ranger lineup, this time powered exclusively by the 3.0L V6 turbo-diesel engine. The combination of V6 power and Tremor's renowned off-road credentials – including Bilstein® position-sensitive dampers with external reservoirs, General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, 30mm increased track width, Trail Turn Assist 5,6 Trail Control 6 and a Rock Crawl drive mode – makes it a great choice for tough terrain 6. Command Grey is the Tremor's hero colour. It also gains Ford's large 12-inch portrait-style infotainment screen and a 360-degree camera for greater ease of use when parking or manoeuvring off the beaten track.
Ranger Platinum: At the pinnacle of the lineup, the Platinum takes on a new Acacia Green hero colour and replaces silver highlights with a sophisticated mix of gloss and asphalt matte black, while the grille mesh retains its stylish silk chrome accents. Inside, the cabin receives an even more premium treatment with a new seat design featuring a unique CNC-quilted insert and 'Platinum' embossed into the seat back.
What driver assist features does the 2026 Ford Ranger offer?
Two important additions are worth highlighting. For the first time, cab-chassis variants, depending on the market 1, will feature the Driver Assist Technology (DAT) bar, packaging a suite of advanced driver-assist systems 1,3 including:
- Digital Reverse Camera 1,3
- Reverse Brake Assist 1,3
- Rear Parking Sensors 1,3
- BLIS® (Blind Spot Monitoring System) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert 1,3
- Lane Change Warning and Aid 1,3
- Trailer Coverage (XLT variants) 1,3
This means owners can switch between a tray and a service body without compromising on safety – something we know matters enormously to commercial customers.
Also new, depending on the market, is the Trailer Connection Alarm1,3,7 which provides an extra layer of security for the large number of Ranger customers who tow. The system monitors the trailer connection, when an active trailer profile is registered in the system, and sounds the vehicle alarm if the trailer is disconnected while the truck is locked.
