Nascar Champion Joey Logano Adds Another Title to His Résumé

If you’re a NASCAR® fan who follows the sport religiously, you probably recognize Ford® Racing’s Joey Logano as driver of the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Mustang Dark Horse® and a three-time Cup Series champion.

Later this week, he’s going to add another title to his name: Ford Dealer.

That’s because Logano has entered into a partnership with the Krause Automotive Group® to form Joey Logano’s Huntersville Ford in Huntersville, NC.

Since joining Ford and Team Penske in 2013, Logano has won 35 races in NASCAR’s top division, but that isn’t enough. He has an appetite for constantly challenging himself and wanting to be more than just a successful race car driver.

I want to prove to myself that I’m not a one-trick pony.  That is very important to me.

“I want to prove to myself that I’m not a one-trick pony. That is very important to me,” said Logano, who started his Cup career in 2008 at the age of 18. “When I see other business owners that have built something incredible, I am fully amazed by it. Roger Penske did it. Henry Ford did it. My father did it. These guys were all-in, and they built this incredible thing, so I want to see what I’ve got.

“If you look at what Ford is built off of, it’s built off of racing and even more important than that, it’s built off of winning. All the way back to 1901 when Henry Ford and Sweepstakes were able to win that race and get the funding to start what would become the Ford Motor Company we know today,” continued Logano. “That’s how it started, and since then, they’ve never lost touch of their heritage and how important it is to race vehicles because what you learn on the racetrack can be translated into production vehicles and vice versa.”

And while he admittedly won’t be able to be involved with the day-to-day operations of the dealership because of his full-time job, his goal is to create a culture in which it isn’t just a place for people to buy cars, but a destination to enjoy other activities.

“If people are looking to do something on Saturday, we want Joey Logano’s Huntersville Ford to be an option for cars and coffee, or a concert, or a place to watch the race,” envisioned Logano. “There are a million ideas I have on how we can do that and create that car club culture. I see plenty of passionate Ford owners every weekend at the racetrack. They bleed Ford blue, and I think it would be cool if we can get them all together in one place.”

Another thing this dealership does is continue a lifelong love affair with the automobile for Logano, who has an impressive car collection that includes a 1924 Model T, 2017 Ford GT, and his latest addition — the Ford Mustang GTD®.

“I love the car culture. I love going to car shows. I love customizing the car. I love seeing the latest and greatest cars coming out,” gushed Logano. “My passion for that has been there since I was a kid. My love for cars was what got me into NASCAR in the first place, and now, I’d like to bring that passion to establish a new vision in the dealership space.”

Logano, who readily admits he has no patience, realizes that it’s going to take time for his vision to be realized.

“We need to build the Huntersville Ford brand. What is our identity? What can this dealership look like? How do we promote that and become the first place that people think of when they want to buy a new vehicle?” wondered Logano. “We want them to think Ford and then Joey Logano’s Huntersville Ford, so we need to get that word out.”

“I still have a long time left in my racing career. I’m nowhere close to retiring. But when that happens, I’m still going to be competing because that’s what’s inside of me,” continued Logano. “Cars are in my blood. It’s who I am.”
