In 2025, all eyes were on the Ford Racing Sports Car Pyramid — and the Mustang one-make series in particular — as Mustang Challenge held its first international event, the Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational.
Today, we are excited to announce that Ford Racing will hold our next marquee global invitational event at another legendary European circuit, Spa-Francorchamps. The Belgian track will host the Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational in 2027. The goal is to again bring competitors from around the globe to compete in support of a major 24-hour race, the 24 Hours of Spa.
The Mustang Challenge Le Mans Invitational was a great success, with over three-dozen Mustang Dark Horse R race cars competing at the Circuit de la Sarthe. After seeing the reaction to Mustang Challenge going international, we knew we should continue on the path of making Mustang One-Make a global platform. There are many great options, but the 24 Hours of Spa seemed the natural follow-up event to Le Mans.
Earlier this year, we took another step on that path to a worldwide platform by launching Mustang Cup Australia, the first international Mustang One-Make series. Just like Mustang Cup USA, this series serves as the entry point to the Ford Racing Sports Car Pyramid.
This entry-level series offers aspiring drivers a chance to start their racing journey in a system in which they can move up throughout their career. For us, this series is a way to discover and connect with talents we may not otherwise know about. And for them to learn about the benefits of racing with the Blue Oval.
We expect to see competitors from not only Mustang Challenge North America, but also Mustang Cup USA and Mustang Cup Australia all racing against one another in this special event. This will truly show off the impressive talents we have in each of our three series as well as spotlight the Mustang Dark Horse R. The 2027 Mustang Challenge Spa Invitational will be a true international blend that can only be brought to you by America’s Race Team.
