We Gave a Kid a Mic and Let Her Loose on an Aircraft Carrier. She Crushed It.

Turns out, our American heroes love answering questions if a kid is the one asking.

At a recent tribute to veterans aboard the USS Midway, we handed our young reporter Alayna a microphone, pointed her at all the folks onboard, and asked her: What do you want to know about them?

Whether they had ever gotten to ride in a hovercraft or like to eat hot dogs, she got to know how people who've served this country actually celebrate the Fourth of July. Check it out:

Ford’s celebration of the military community will continue well past the Fourth of July. On November 11, in collaboration with NASCAR, we'll deliver a special military tribute race honoring all six branches of the military.

Debuting on Veterans Day 2026 and featuring Mustang® Dark Horse™ Rs, the race will be paired with an unforgettable concert featuring Zac Brown Band and other marquee talent. The concert and race will be entirely focused on driving impact and visibility for military and veteran service partners.

The veterans in this video, and their families, are exactly who we salute and aim to serve. Get to know them a little, then save the date.

One year ago, a group of Ford volunteers framed the walls of Shauneka Howard’s future Habitat for Humanity house. A wooden frame slowly became a house. And alongside Howard's hard work, the house became a home.
