The Sun Never Sets On Ranger

We developed our Ford Ranger to be a true workhorse.
Whether it’s towing, carrying loads or tackling tough terrain, Ranger is designed to make sure the job gets done.
But why should your pickup only be working when it’s on the move?
The plug-in hybrid powertrain in our new Ranger PHEV gave us the chance to make Europe’s best-selling pickup 1 even more useful.
It’s the first Ranger to offer Pro Power Onboard, which lets you use Ranger PHEV as a mobile power source, rather than relying on a separate portable generator.

The system uses the pickup’s 11.8 kWh (usable) battery pack to provide power for anything from running tools when working in a remote spot, to re-charging your e-bike during a day’s adventure seeking, or running an electric barbecue on a camping trip.

There’s a choice of two power outputs – 2.3 kW or 6.9 kW – with the power split across three 230 V outlets.

On the more powerful 6.9 kW system, there is one outlet inside the vehicle’s cabin (10 A and 2.3 kW), and two in the load box (15 A and 3.45 kW per outlet) to meet the power demands of heavier duty equipment.

We’ve made Pro Power Onboard super-intuitive to activate and control using Ranger PHEV’s SYNC 4 touchscreen, 2 and we’ve built in some clever features to help users get the most out of it.
For example, if the battery charge has been depleted the system can start up Ranger PHEV’s petrol engine 3 to generate a continuous flow of power. When the combined petrol and electric driving distance to empty drops below 80 km, the system will shift into Low Power mode, to help ensure you can complete your trip.
Pro Power Onboard is another great feature that helps Ranger PHEV take pickup versatility to the next level– using plug-in hybrid power that can deliver electric to your wheels, your tools and your toys.

2 Don’t drive distracted. Use voice operated systems where possible and don’t use handheld devices while driving. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all SYNC features are compatible with all phones. SYNC screen appearance and functionality may change over time due to software updates.
3 Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid homologated CO2 emissions 70-72 g/km WLTP, homologated fuel efficiency 3.1-3.2 l/100 km WLTP and pure electric driving range up to 43 km WLTP. The declared WLTP fuel/energy consumptions, CO2 emissions and electric range are determined according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended. The applied standard test procedures enable comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. A range of up to 43 km can be achieved with a fully charged battery - depending on the existing series and battery configuration. The actual range may vary due to various factors (e.g. weather conditions, driving style, route profile, vehicle condition, age and condition of the lithium-ion battery).
