Madrid Firefighters Show How to Handle Emergencies with Ranger PHEV

Firefighters in Madrid have been showing other emergency responders how to handle difficult off-road conditions using the award-winning Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

The training, held at the IFISE Institute in the city, offered drivers hands-on experience so that they could test its 4x4 capabilities in scenarios that mimic real-world emergencies.²

Madrid firefighters chose the Ranger PHEV to demonstrate techniques to a range of other services, including national and local police, and military personnel, fostering better coordination between different agencies.

The Ranger has long been a trusted partner for services like these, and this new plug-in hybrid model will help them operate with greater efficiency.

Ranger PHEV offers the toughness and off-road performance the Ranger is known for, combined with the improved efficiency of a hybrid engine. This allows teams to operate effectively in remote areas while managing fuel consumption.

This initiative continues Ford's collaborative work with Madrid's emergency services, building on a previous high-profile training session with rally ace Carlos Sainz who demonstrated the robust capabilities of the Ranger Raptor to the city's firefighters. The current training with the Ranger PHEV underscores Ford's ongoing commitment to providing advanced and efficient off-road solutions for critical response teams.

A moment of anticipation as rally ace Carlos Sainz prepares to share his driving expertise with the Madrid Fire Department

"We are proud that the Ranger PHEV was selected to help train Madrid's emergency responders," said Jesus Alonso, President and MD for Ford in Spain and Portugal. "They require a reliable and capable vehicle. The Ranger has long been a trusted partner for services like these, and this new plug-in hybrid model will help them operate with greater efficiency."

¹ Ford Ranger Plug-In Hybrid homologated CO2 emissions 143-145 g/km WLTP Euro 6e-bis (UK: 70-72 g/km Euro 6e), homologated fuel efficiency 6.2-6.4 l/100 km WLTP Euro 6e-bis (UK: 3.1-3.2 l/100 km Euro 6e) and pure electric driving range up to 43 km WLTP. The declared WLTP fuel/energy consumptions, CO2 emissions and electric range are determined according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended. The applied standard test procedures enable comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. A range of up to 43 km can be achieved with a fully charged battery - depending on the existing series and battery configuration. The actual range may vary due to various factors (e.g. weather conditions, driving style, route profile, vehicle condition, age and condition of the lithium-ion battery)
