How American Access Is Paving the Way for Veterans

Logan Clark, president and owner of American Access, a nationwide provider of ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps, joined the Marine Corps after a friend said he couldn’t make it.

“I saw this as an opportunity to prove him wrong and to become part of something greater than myself — helping to protect the freedoms and liberties we cherish as Americans," Clark said.

His nearly decade-long service, from 2013 to 2022, included roles as an Aircraft Mechanic for V-22 Ospreys and three years in the Marine Security Guard program safeguarding U.S. embassies worldwide. This extensive military background instilled in him the discipline, leadership, and teamwork now vital to his family-owned business, American Access.

I felt a strong desire to give back to those who served before me, alongside me, and those who will serve in the future.

“After my long military service, I felt a strong desire to give back to those who served before me, alongside me, and those who will serve in the future,” Clark said.

What began in 1997 as a family endeavor founded by Logan Clark’s father, Brian Clark, from a commitment to superior customer service has blossomed into American Access. Now under Logan Clark’s leadership, the company specifically empowers fellow disabled veterans by not only employing them and creating a shared purpose but also creating ramps that enable veterans to regain their independence and freedom.

The Challenge of Ambitious Growth

With a mission to serve veterans across the country, American Access experienced rapid expansion, growing its vehicle fleet drastically over the past year, operating 30 service centers from coast to coast.

Their previous methods were buckling under strain. Manual document management for onboarding trucks was unwieldy, and their existing tracking software was unreliable, easily tampered with, and frequently failed. Critical insights into vehicle health and driver behavior were missing, impacting efficiency, safety, and operational costs. The company needed a robust, integrated approach that could keep pace with its growth and uphold its unwavering standard of service to those who have sacrificed for their country.

An Integrated Solution for a Critical Mission

To overcome these hurdles, American Access sought a holistic solution that could streamline every aspect of their operations.

At the heart of their operations are 99 Ford vehicles, including F-150® and Maverick® trucks, chosen for their specs and reliability.

"With Ford's excellent towing capacities and powertrain technology, we have little to worry about when we are servicing our veterans nationwide, to include the various weather and terrain features that we have to overcome in the remote areas of the United States," Clark explained.

Clark also highlights his technicians’ love for Ford’s BlueCruise technology, which allows them to go hands-free on long drives.

The true game-changer came with their Ford Pro Telematics Software1 subscription. Modems embedded in their commercial Ford vehicles delivered high-quality vehicle data directly to their software dashboard, giving them unprecedented visibility.

Ford Pro Telematics Softwarehelps identify excessive idling and allowed American Access to coach drivers on better habits, leading to tangible performance benefits like reduced fuel costs and even commercial auto insurance savings.

Chris Milam, a business unit leader, highlights how vehicle health alerts enable proactive maintenance, ensuring "vehicles are serviced before the dashboard light illuminates," minimizing unexpected downtime and maximizing vehicle uptime.

To finance this rapid expansion, American Access leveraged a commercial line of credit through Benton Ford. This solution provided financial freedom to acquire vehicles as needed, with consolidated monthly billing simplifying their financial processes.

"Our finance department was able to review all purchases and set up automatic payments to ensure that we paid our bill on time with little effort," Clark adds.

Paving the Way Forward

For Logan Clark, American Access is more than a business; it’s a direct continuation of his service. His vision is ambitious: to expand beyond the two-thirds of veterans currently served, providing ramps to veterans across the country. With their integrated solutions streamlining operations, maximizing uptime, and enabling smart, sustainable growth, American Access is confidently on its way to achieving that vital mission, one ramp — and one veteran — at a time.
