From Hanoi to Hampshire: How 8 Ford Dealers Are Changing Lives Across the Globe

For Henry Hansel, running a dealership comes with a responsibility to look after the neighbors and community his family has served since 1946. The President of Hansel Ford Lincoln and a 2026 Ford Salute to Dealers honoree, Hansel is a foundational supporter of healthcare and youth services in Santa Rosa, California, and the surrounding area.
As a dedicated philanthropist, Hansel’s commitment is most visible in his leadership of "Caring Together," a multimillion-dollar modernization of local medical facilities. By supporting the Hansel Family Care Center and a new Women’s Health Center at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, he is ensuring that the 100,000 people who seek care there annually have access to a world-class environment. Rather than just providing funding, Hansel often meets with medical professionals to ensure the facilities are designed to meet the specific needs of the patients.
“The ultimate feeling of fulfillment will come when the doors open, and I see happy doctors who love their workspace and patients who feel genuinely cared for,” Hansel said.
Beyond healthcare, Hansel has spent over three decades supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin and advocating for recovery efforts following the 2017 wildfires. For him, the goal is simple: ensuring the region that supported his family for eight decades remains a place where everyone can thrive.

Who in your life set the example for what it means to help those in need?
Henry Hansel: My father, who became a Ford dealer in 1946. He was incredibly generous, not just with money, but with his time. He used to visit prisoners in halfway houses to help them reintegrate into society. He also teamed up with local businessmen to start the "Community Chest," which eventually became the local United Way.
What is the most rewarding part of seeing your dealership employees rally together to volunteer?
Henry Hansel: Seeing that the company culture — encapsulated by the motto "Caring Drives Us" — has truly taken root. Seeing our employees volunteer tells me they feel like fulfilled human beings who understand the importance of giving back. It shows they aren't just great workers, but complete citizens who care for their neighbors.
For a young person who wants to help but doesn’t know where to start, what is the first small step you would recommend?
Henry Hansel: Start with a passion. Identify what you love. For example, if you are passionate about animals, look for a way to help in that specific area. I also suggest donating outgrown toys or clothing to organizations like the Salvation Army. It helps children see a tangible connection between their gifts and the people who benefit from them.
For 26 years, Ford has celebrated the extraordinary contributions of its dealers through the Salute to Dealers program. Congratulations and thank you to all eight of the 2026 honorees for their commitment to service.
