You Asked, He Answered: Replay the AMA with F-150 Lobo Designer Josh Blundo

With the recent announcement of the F-150 Lobo, Ford's U.S street truck family is growing fast.
Let's take a look back at where it all began: the Maverick Lobo. First available to customers in early 2025, the small but mighty Maverick street truck has been turning heads out on the road for about 6 months now. Below, hear from three drivers about their unique experiences with the one that started it all.

Meet Dan Vettorazzi, a 53-year-old senior coordinator at a medical administration company living in Lake Worth, Florida. Vettorazzi uses a velocity blue Maverick Lobo for daily driving. It’s not his first truck, but it is his first street truck.
Prior to switching to his Lobo, Vettorazzi drove a Toyota Hylander, and part of the reason he made the move to a Maverick Lobo was its small, sporty look.
“I’ve always liked the idea of a small truck like the ’90s Ranger and the Maverick when it first came out on the market,” he said.
Vettorazi has considered a few modifications but doesn’t think many are needed. “I would like to keep it as factory as I can for the time being,” he said. “I’m very happy with my Lobo, and I am so glad I got the 702A equipment group with all the bells and whistles.”
A 44-year-old project manager in Tacoma, Washington, William Sawyer proudly drives his oxford white Maverick Lobo to work every day.
“I chose it because it gives that ’80s mini truck vibe,” he said. “Those sleek lines and compact size just scream retro cool, making it perfect for my Miami Vice-inspired build.”
Sawyer is a big fan of retro design. He’s calling this his “SynthCity” mini truck adventure.
“This Maverick Lobo is my first brand-new ride, and I’m beyond stoked to make it a rolling tribute to the ’80s mini truck scene,” he said. “I’m building it to cruise with my family and hit up car meets near and far with a matching teardrop camper.”
Modification-wise, Sawyer’s getting this Maverick Lobo a full ’80s synthwave makeover.
“Inspired by Miami Vice nights and cruising to retro beats, we’re adding bold graphics, neon under-glow, and a sound system to blast synth tunes, plus a beefier intake and exhaust to make that 2.0L turbo sing with a sweet blow-off valve pop — all warranty-friendly to keep it reliable.”

Andrew Bar is a 43-year-old auto transport and property management professional in Venice, Florida. Prior to driving his oxford white Maverick Lobo, he owned a 2003 F-150, 2017 F-350 — and a bunch of other Mavericks.
“This is the 7th Maverick purchase,” he said. “We currently own four others in the family.”
An all-Ford family, Bar’s crew says they’ve never had issues with their Mavericks and will continue to buy them in the future.
Bar especially loves the newest addition to his Maverick lineup. The styling and body kit on the Lobo were part of what helped seal the deal, and he also loves the screen, which is larger than the ones in his other Mavericks.
“I drive the Lobo a lot, it’s great for daily driving,” he said. “I often drive it in sport mode. And it’s reliable for family use — I have had to drive my kids around from time to time in this truck, and it’s perfect for transporting them from place to place.”
When it comes to modifications, Bar doesn’t see the need. He’s perfectly happy with the truck as-is. As his first street truck, he wasn’t quite sure what to expect at first and was a bit apprehensive about the low ride, expecting that it might be a rougher experience—but now he’s impressed daily by how smooth it is.
