Key Ford SUVs Drive Big Gains in February: Bronco, Explorer, and Expedition Best in 26 Years

Last month once again saw strong sales come from Ford’s larger SUVs: Bronco, Explorer, and Expedition along with Lincoln’s Aviator and Navigator.

With industry sales down 3% in February, Ford sold 149,962 vehicles.

If not for the sunsetting of three vehicles — the Escape, Edge, and Lincoln Corsair — Ford sales would be up 1.5% and outperforming the industry. However, with the sunsetting of these vehicles, Ford is down 5.5%.

Ford continues to benefit from its appeal to a diverse customer base, from strong sales of XL trims on Maverick and Ranger to strong growth in large SUVs, off-road performance vehicles, and Lincoln’s Navigator.

Combined sales of entry level trims on vehicles like Maverick, Ranger, and Bronco Sport climbed 20.6% through February of this year, while off-road performance vehicles, including Bronco, Bronco Sport, FX4, Tremor, Raptor, and Timberline were up 14.8%.

Strong Truck Sales Continue

As America’s most affordable pickup, Maverick sales totaled 10,387 trucks up 1.1% for the month. Total sales of the entry level Maverick XL were up 16.4%.

The Ford Ranger posted a sales increase of 29.9% on total sales of 5,776 pickups for the month. The entry level Ranger XL saw a notable increase in demand with sales up 48.5% through February of this year, while Ranger Raptor produced a 57.1% increase in sales over the same time period.

Ford F-Series sales totaled 49,682 trucks in February. Sales for F-Series for the first two months of the year totaled 97,663 trucks beginning the year as America’s best-selling truck — outselling Silverado by over 16,000 trucks.

Bronco, Explorer, Expedition Drive SUV Sales

Large SUV sales — specifically the new Expedition, Explorer, and Bronco — totaled a combined 38,204 vehicles in February. This is up 30.4% and Ford’s best combined start for these three SUVs dating back to 2000.

Bronco had a record February sales month of 12,553 — up 27.6%. The first two months of sales totaled a record 23,367 SUVs — up 23.7% over the same period last year.

Bronco Sport also had a record February and is off to a record start to the year, with February sales of 11,273 and total of 21,914 through the first two months of the year.

Combined, the Bronco family, including Bronco Sport, achieved a new February sales record of 23,826, with sales up 19.9%. Year-to-date sales totaled 45,281 and are also off to a record start.

America’s best-selling three-row SUV, the Ford Explorer, sold 20,100 SUVs — up 33.4% over last year, while year-to-date sales are up 32.1% over 2025.

Sales of the Ford Expedition were up 26.5% for the month on 5,551 SUVs.
